NOTE: If we registered the domain for you there is no need to change the nameservers.
This article will help you transfer your domain from another provider to our nameservers, but covers only .COM and .NET domains.
If you want to transfer a country-specific domain you should contact the country NIC through whom the domain was registered.
If you don't know the contact informations of the NIC , you can find them here: www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm
For other generic top-level domains (like .ORG , .INFO , .BIZ) you can find the contact informations of the NIC at www.iana.org/gtld/gtld.htm
To find out whom to contact to engage the transfer, go to www.internic.net/whois.html and perform a WHOIS query on your domain.
Note that the "www" at the beginning is not part of the domain.
Example: awebhosting.com is CORRECT, but www.awebhosting.com is NOT CORRECT
You will get something like:
Domain Name: AWEBHOSTING.COM
Registrar: GO DADDY SOFTWARE, INC.
Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com
Name Server: UDNS1.ULTRADNS.NET
Name Server: UDNS2.ULTRADNS.NET
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 24-jul-2003
Creation Date: 12-may-2003
Expiration Date: 12-may-2005
Go to your registrar's URL ("Referral URL" from the whois output) for specific instructions.
To transfer your domain name to our servers, you just need to fill out a Domain Name Record Modification Form at your registrar.
The part of your domain name record that needs to be changed is the Name Server Information section.
Replace the current information with the nameservers specified in your welcome email.
You will have to wait from 24 hours to even a few days for the nameservers to be updated.
To check if your nameservers are updated go to www.internic.net/whois.html and perform a whois query to your domain.
If in the "Name Server" section you see the nameservers specified in your welcome email this means that your nameservers are updated.
